The music of the 70's is the music that has made all music of today what it is. If the 70's had never happened, odds are rather good that the music of today would be worse than it already is. The music that I'm referring to is the real stuff, not the funky garbage that completely disappeared. Led Zeppelin (as seen below) is considered one of the greatest bands ever by some and THE best by many others. Pink Floyd is rated much the same. For any other band of the decade though, you'd find fewer supporters. It can be guaranteed that everyone has heard Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, whether they know it or not.
Left to Right : John Bonham, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones
Left to right: Nick Mason, Syd Barret, David Gilmour (front), Roger Waters, and Richard Wright
